When Mississauga residents Laureen and George Cole started neighbourhood shopping two years ago, they looked at resale homes in Waterloo, Paris, Brantford, Caledon, Bolton and Milton.
“Laureen is five minutes from work and we thought Milton would be the farthest we would go, but prices there were ridiculous even for townhouses,” says George. “We knew nothing of Stayner and thought it was too far away.”
However, during their initial visit to Nottawasaga Station, Laureen notes, “We fell in love with everything and basically it was only one week before we bought.” And ironically it was her who drove the process, even though it would mean combining working from home with a much longer commute (location is not so much of an issue in George’s line of work).
But for the Coles escaping from a “concrete jungle” to a quiet and peaceful setting is worth the extra mileage. “When we get home from work in Mississauga, we don’t want to go out and fight more traffic and see more people,” observes George. “But here we will go out and enjoy life – the fresh air, going for walks and just relaxing.” And Laureen agrees, “Stayner is ideal. Our home is perfect for us and it meets all our wants and needs. Eventually we will retire here – this is our forever home.”
